BENNY DID IT!!

 

This Bar Mitzvah was for a sweet, fun loving young man who loves sneakers.  He has quite a collection and we used them in our décor for his special day. 

 

 His color scheme was navy blue, grey and orange

 

 This was his entrance for the luncheon.  We hung several of his brightly colored shoes from their laces above his sign. 

 Centerpieces were oversized shoes with an iconic "swoosh" in his party colors

Some of the tables had these floral centerpieces.  We made the shoe wraps for the vases and filled the vases with orange and white tulips.

The nighttime party was at a different venue that evening.

We hung more shoes above the dance floor.

Here is the entrance for the evening party.  Ben's card box was made with some of his shoe boxes. 

For Ben's sign in, we took the door from his bedroom and everyone left a special message.

We displayed more of Ben's shoe collection in cubbies in the entry.

Ben gave away these cool t's that also served as chair covers in the party room

Congrats Benny!!  YOU DID IT!!!

IU'S JOURNEY TO THE TOURNEY

We are so proud of our IU men's basketball team!  They are killing it this year!!  So I was inspired to create a grab and go food table to enjoy while watching the big game.   

 

 The set up was a nod to Assembly Hall complete with the basketball court, bleachers with IU chairs and the Championship banners.  Here's to hoping to add a 2013 banner to the set.

 

The mini chairs held chocolate peanut butter cups with sugar basketballs...

 

 

 

and dark chocolate covered sea salt caramels from Indy's very own

The Best Chocolate In Town  (I added the little chocolate IU detail)



Mini glass Coke bottles with tiny coaches whistles around the necks of the bottles

Single servings of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream

Mini Sliders and Fries

BASKETBALL TRUFFLES

In the spirit of March Madness, I decided to make some basketball truffles. I used the Wilton Large Sports Ball Candy Mold ($1.99) and Wilton orange chocolate.


For the truffles, I used Bakerella's Oreo Truffle recipe and also used the same technique and used nutter butters. I poured the orange chocolate in the mold but didn't fill it to the top. I balled the truffles and then smashed them into a disc that would fit inside the mold. When it hardened I popped it out and finished it with melted almond bark and piped the lines.



For the display, I cut a piece of vinyl flooring that looked like a basketball court to fit inside the tray. And oh yeah, I suggest you buy a few of the Wilton molds so that you don't have to make one basketball at a time...like I did ;-)
